Two Free E-Verify Employee Rights Webinars on September 23

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and the U.S. Department of Justice (USDOJ) Civil Rights Division Office of Special Counsel (OSC) for Immigration Related Unfair Employment Practices will present two free E-Verify webinars on Employee Rights in both English and Spanish on Tuesday, September 23, 2014.

The joint USCIS/OSC webinars will feature an overview of employee rights and anti-discrimination provisions during the E-Verify and Form I-9 employment eligibility verification processes. The webinars are useful for workers, worker advocates, job seekers, and employers. The dates and times for the two free E-Verify Employee Rights webinars are:

Under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA), all U.S. employers are required by law to verify the identity and employment eligibility of everyone they hire. These webinars will cover what employees need to know about their employee rights and:

  • Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9
  • E-Verify
  • Tentative Nonconfirmation (TNC) Further Action Notice
  • Self Check, a Tool for Employees

E-Verify is an Internet-based system that compares information from an employee’s Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to data from DHS and Social Security Administration (SSA) records to confirm employment eligibility.
