USCIS Launches New E-Verify Usage Statistics Webpage

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has launched a new E-Verify Usage Statistics webpage with easy-to-use interactive tools that allows the public to view the total number of E-Verify Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) by state and the top 20 industries in the U.S. that use the Internet-based E-Verify employment eligibility verification system.

E-Verify compares information from an employee’s Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification to data from U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Social Security Administration (SSA) records to confirm employment eligibility. According to the USCIS, E-Verify is used by more than 600,000 employers at over 1.9 million hiring sites.

The following list contains the top 20 states with the most E-Verify MOUs (as of March, 31 2016):

  • 2. ARIZONA – 49,876
  • 3. CALIFORNIA – 48,700
  • 4. ALABAMA – 43,944
  • 5. MISSOURI – 41,159
  • 6. SOUTH CAROLINA – 40,211
  • 7. TEXAS – 33,800
  • 8. FLORIDA – 33,680
  • 9. NORTH CAROLINA – 21,951
  • 10. NEW YORK – 17,174
  • 11. VIRGINIA – 15,042
  • 12. ILLINOIS – 14,126
  • 13. COLORADO – 12,669
  • 14. PENNSYLVANIA – 12,384
  • 15. TENNESSEE – 12,063
  • 16. INDIANA – 11,653
  • 17. NEW JERSEY – 11,072
  • 18. WASHINGTON – 9,615
  • 19. UTAH – 9,485
  • 20. MARYLAND – 9,200

Users can view data by reading the color coded legends or using their desktop mouse to hover over a state on the interactive map or the 3D pie chart of industries.
